"Made To Measure" is our term for a custom fitted chap. Any chap with measurements other than the stock size measurements noted above are considered Custom "Made To Measure."
Taking your measurements correctly is extremely important! "Made To Measure" chaps are custom made for you and are therefore, not refundable. Please be certain of your measurements. Do not assume any measurements based on your pants' size - ALWAYS measure. It is best to use a cloth measuring tape and you should always have another person measure for you because you'll need to bend and twist to take your own measurements and this will alter the outcome! When in doubt on how to measure, contact your retail store or please call us for assistance.
There are two types of leg closures:
- Buckle Leg Chaps: Some examples of chap styles that have adjustable buckles and straps on the legs are: Rodeo Chaps, Batwing Chaps, Chinks and Cutting Chaps. When measuring for buckle leg chaps, wear the clothes and boots that you would normally wear with your chaps. Take the measurment at the point where the tape is confortable on your leg, not too tight and not too loose. To find out where to place the tape around your thigh, see our measuring diagram below.
- Zipper Leg Chaps: Some examples of zippered leg chaps are: Shotgun Chaps, Show Chaps and Motorcycle Chaps. Zippered leg chaps are NOT adjustable in the leg. Be sure to measure the circumference of your thigh with the clothes on that you will likely wear under the chaps. Take your measurment at a loose fit and possibly add some room for thicker clothing.

Special Consideration For Fringed Chaps
* If your desired chap comes with fringe or if you are adding fringe to your chaps, the outseam measurement that you provide will be the overall total length of the chap from the top of the chap to the bottom of the fringe. You will need to include the length of the fringe in the outseam measurement. In other words, the outseam measurement should be the length at which the bottom of the fringe stops, not the length of the chap leg. If your measurement stops at the floor length and your chap includes fringe, the body of the chap will stop short of the floor to allow the bottom of the fringe to reach your measurement. If you want the body of the chap to reach the floor and the fringe to drag, include the full length of the chap leg to the floor plus extra length for the fringe as your outseam measurement.
